Here’s a sneak preview of some new work made for Origin and upcoming shows. These are reclaimed picture frames with the work mounted directly onto the glass. There is no backing so the image will cast a shadow behind.
Very pleased to report I’ll be at The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair 20-23 October 2011 again this year. This is the North’s main contemporary craft event and I’m thrilled to be taking part again. See you there!
Thanks to Amanda at Yorkshire Sculpture Park for sending these photos of the work in the showcase.
It’s going up! There’s still lots of jigging about to be done so this may not be the final configuration. Come along on Saturday from 2-4 for the launch party to see how it all turns out!
‘The Walking Dead: Drawings in Plastic’ opens at Manchester Craft and Design Centre on 14th May. Come along – there will be live music, non-stop drawing and boozy punch! This installation will be VERY bright so be prepared to be overwhelmed with colour! I’ve also got some smaller, domestic sized pieces for sale as well as a new jewellery collection (yes, I have been busy and no, I haven’t had much sleep in the last month…)
The work for Yorkshire Sculpture Park showcase has now been couriered over and should be installed from Monday 9th, so if you’re enjoying a day of culture in Wakefield, pop along and see what you think.
Here is a tantalising glimpse of the work packed up….
In May until August I will be exhibiting new works entitled “The Walking Dead’ at Manchester Craft and Design Centre and also at Yorkshire Sculpture Park in response to current exhibition of Jaume Plensa.
‘The Walking Dead’ installation is a large scale hanging you can walk through, acting as a memento mori – to remember life is fleeting and should be enjoyed and savoured. There are motifs of death and the macabre but the bright colours and joyful images integrated into the piece are a reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.
